About Rowan TwoSisters

Rowan TwoSisters writes the Hella Goode series — magical realism set in Marfa, Texas, 22 books structured around the Major Arcana of the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot. She is a Certified Professional Midwife, Licensed Midwife, and Licensed Massage Therapist, as well as an urban curandera, trained in wise woman traditions by her grandmother and teachers, blessed in the curandera tradition by the late Elena Avila. She uses a different tarot deck for each book in the series, and she teaches hooping and flow arts.

The series follows Hella Goode: a Gen X, red-haired, queer AF curandera-midwife with a big butt and invisible disabilities who's out of spoons and fucks, only wanting to retire in the desert in her Airstream to write erotica — but Marfa has other plans, and so do the clients who come calling. Rowan's fiction circles the same truths her hands have practiced for thirty-six years: body sovereignty, pleasure, community care, and the belief that healing is something we do together, not alone.

She writes with urgency, and she'll tell you why plainly. She has things to say, and people to help learn their own healing arts. This is each-one-teach-one work — equal parts hope punk and solarpunk, getting real skills into real hands before the world burns. Less doom, more "here's how, and you can do it too."

If you liked Practical Magic and Bless Me, Última, you'll find medicine in Hella's desert.

Rowan publishes through Parsley Press and lives and works in Houston most of the time, and deep West Texas some of the time. She has big dogs, suffers from chicken math, and will always buy a colander at a thrift store. You can find the whole highway — books, behind-the-scenes from the Airstream studio, grimoire studies, and her community — right here.
